Flashes of Hope raises funds to accelerate a cure for children’s cancer while honoring the unique life and memories of every child fighting cancer.

Being involved with Flashes of Hope has been some of the most fulfilling work of my photography life.

We would typically shoot in a cramped office or whatever space was available on shoot day. Move a few chairs out of the way, throw up a drop, set up a light or two, and prepare for whoever walks in.

Most parents prefer a smiling photo of their child, but this was about the essence. After all, they are being treated for cancer. Having the seriously ill patient and family simply make it to our location studio might have been a chore for them on that day.

Some patients were so ill, they couldn’t make it on photo day.

These shoots enhance perspective.
