This photo of Clare and Dean was taken at the end of Clare’s senior photo session east of New Richmond, WI at Dean’s farm. Clare had wanted something different for her senior photos, rusted vehicles and farm equipment, and vintage wardrobe. So Clare and I and her Dad, Butch, went on a photo safari at Dean’s sheep farm. We shot around the rusted metal, tractors, various apparatus, and the sheep and cats. Clare and Dean had never met before. I had only spoken to Dean once previous. This photo was a last second grab as we were leaving, heading back to the cities.
I had been planning on entering this in the State Fair Fine Arts competition for some time, but keep forgetting. So I finally pull this from the archives a few days ago, then realize the State Fair rules say photos must be created after Jan. 1, 2010, so this image is out for this competition.
Anyway, I love the incongruous nature of these two, with the leaning barn and miscellaneous farm items strewn about. If I didn’t know, I’d guess she was his grand daughter, returning for a visit.
