Family Portrait FAQ

DCharles Photography provides Minneapolis family portrait photography and St. Paul family photography in locations around the area. Don is happy to work with you to find the perfect setting, best season of the year and ideal time of day for your family portrait session anywhere in the Twin Cities area.

Why choose DCharles Photography for our family portrait?
Don specializes in taking lifestyle family portraits on location in the Twin Cities and beyond — in settings that are significant to you or that offer the natural beauty or urban appeal that will make your portrait memorable and unique. The result is a portrait that reflects your family’s special character and interests.

Where will you take our family portrait?
Don prefers to do family portraits that center on your family’s lifestyle and interests – you can choose to be photographed at your home, on your boat, in a beautiful natural setting or near interesting architectural or urban landmarks. Don can suggest some locations, or share your ideas with him. Don will scout locations in advance to determine the best settings and other details.

How long do family portrait sessions take?
Family portrait sessions typically last one to two hours, depending on the location and the number of different settings and poses. You’ll never feel rushed and there will be ample time for younger members of the family to take a break if needed.

Can we include our dog in the portrait session?
Absolutely. Don has worked with dogs for years. You should make sure the dog has been exercised that day and bring some treats or toys. You can also do part of the session with your dog and part without.
